How Apartment Links Work
A user taps a shared link and SightMap opens the property map with the apartment highlighted.
What the visitor sees
What the visitor sees
- The visitor gets a link by email, text, app notification, or work order. Someone shared the link from SightMap.com/locate, or a platform generated the link as a Get Directions link.
- The link opens in the their browser, and SightMap loads the property map.
- The map highlights the destination apartment. If the user is on the property and has enabled location based services, their location appears as blue dot and moves around as they move around the propety.
What’s in a Get Directions link
| Part | Example | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Property share map | https://sightmap.com/share/x1p881ddpd6 | The property’s SightMap. Unique to each property. |
| Destination | d=4683226 | The SightMap unit ID of the destination apartment. |
Don’t build these URLs by hand. Share codes are property-specific, so always pull the URL template from the API.
