Overview & SightMap Features

Bring all-in pricing to any website

This section of the SightMap Developer Hub hopes to provide practical steps and recommendations to help agencies, along with their clients, implement price transparency within their digital ecosystems.

What Is Fee Transparency?

Fee transparency refers to the clear, consistent, and comprehensive disclosure of all costs associated with renting a home, beyond the base rent.

This includes:

  1. List of Potential Fees: Mandatory fees (e.g., pet fees, application fees), situational fees (e.g., guest room rentals), and contingent fees (e.g., late rent payments).
  2. Upfront disclosure: Renters see all associated costs the first time they view the listing and before providing personal information or committing to a lease.
  3. Consistency across platforms: The same fees appear on ILS listings, property websites and online applications.

In today's competitive multifamily housing market, price transparency is essential. Web development agencies must create user experiences that deliver complete, consistent pricing information across digital touchpoints.

SightMap's Fee Transparency features allow website developers to:

  • Add fee disclaimers and labels, pulling from our out of the box options or customize your own.
  • Include comprehensive cost breakdowns at the individual unit level.
  • Calculate one-time and monthly costs based on the renter's unique needs - from pets to parking, every option the property offers.
  • Display the cost calculator within the SightMap unit details and/or target the calculator from other areas of the website, for example, within the unit list.

SightMap's Fee Transparency features provide the fee data structure, the API and additional UI to help website agencies meet fee transparency regulations and provide the most transparent renter experience possible.

We have created a comprehensive step-by-step guide to assist agencies and their clients on how to get started with fee transparency. This guide also explains how to update your websites to encompass fee transparency standards and best practices.
